Family Photoshoot in London

Frequently Asked Questions

Below you’ll find answers to my most frequently asked questions about family, newborn and maternity photoshoots in London. If you can’t find what you’re looking for, just reach out - I'm always happy to help.

What does a family photoshoot in London with you look like?

My family photoshoots are relaxed, natural and fun—no awkward posing or forced smiles. We can either head outdoors for a playful adventure in a local London park, or I can join you at home to capture your family in your own space. My approach is to document real moments: laughter, cuddles, chaos, and connection. Before your session, I’ll send a Welcome Pack full of tips to help you prepare and feel comfortable.

Where do you photograph families in London?

I’m based in Croydon, South London, and cover all local boroughs as well as locations across London, Surrey, Kent, and Sussex. Some of my favourite family photoshoot locations in London include [add specific parks/areas, e.g. Crystal Palace Park, Dulwich Park, Richmond Park, local woods, etc.]. For at-home sessions, I travel throughout the city. Travel is included within Croydon, with a small fee for further afield.

Can we have our family photoshoot at home?

Absolutely! At-home family photoshoots are perfect, especially for newborns or during colder months. Your home does not need to be perfect—if it has natural light, it’s enough. I’ll guide you on preparing the space and will move distracting items if needed. These sessions capture your family in your real environment, making the images even more meaningful.

Can we include both indoor and outdoor photos in one session?

Yes, if time and location allow, I’m always up for mixing it up. This works especially well if we’re starting at your home and finishing with a short walk nearby, or if your garden or street has a nice backdrop. Let’s chat about your vision, and we’ll make it happen in a way that flows naturally.

What should we wear for a family photoshoot?

Wear something comfortable that reflects your family’s style. Neutrals and soft tones work best, and simple patterns look lovely on camera. Try to avoid bold logos, characters, or very bright colours that might distract from your faces. Once you book, I’ll send a style guide full of inspiration and you’re always welcome to message me photos of your outfit ideas for advice!

Is a home photoshoot a good idea for newborn photography?

It’s actually the best idea. At-home newborn sessions mean you don’t have to go anywhere—no packing, no rushing, just a calm, cosy environment where your baby already feels safe. These sessions are beautifully personal, and we get to capture not just your little one, but the space you brought them home to. Plus, there’s always time for tea breaks and nappy changes. Don’t worry about how your home looks - natural light and connection are what matter most.

What age is best for newborn photography?

There’s no ‘perfect’ age—it depends on the kind of photos you want.
If you’d like to capture those sleepy, curled-up shots, aim for the first 2–3 weeks. If you're more drawn to a mix of cuddles, stretches and early expressions, 3–6 weeks is also lovely. I photograph newborns up to around 2 months old, and I let the baby lead the way so we get photos that feel real and natural—whatever stage they’re in.

My children or partner hate photoshoots - will this work for us?

Yes! Many people worry about this, but my sessions are designed to be as relaxed as possible. I never ask you to say “cheese”—instead, I focus on play, laughter, and genuine connection. Even the most camera-shy children (and reluctant adults) usually end up enjoying themselves.

How do you work with toddlers or camera-shy children?

As a mum of two, I know all the tricks to make toddlers feel at ease and encourage natural moments. My sessions are child-led - we take breaks as needed, follow your child’s interests, and never force anything. I’m patient and flexible, and often little ones end up having so much fun they forget it’s a photoshoot!

What happens if my baby cries the whole session?

First of all, you’re not alone—babies cry, and it’s completely okay. I’m a mum too, so I’ve been there (many times!). If your baby is unsettled, we take things slowly. There’s plenty of time for feeding, cuddling, and comforting, and some of the most beautiful, emotive photos come from those tender in-between moments. I’ll gently guide the session depending on how your baby is feeling, and we’ll follow their lead with no pressure. The pace is always baby-first.

How do I book a family, maternity, or newborn photoshoot in London?

Simply get in touch via my contact page, Facebook, or Instagram. Once you’re ready to secure your date, I ask for a £200 session fee (non-refundable, applies to all session types). I’ll then send a Welcome Pack and we’ll plan your session together.

When should I book a maternity or newborn photoshoot?

For maternity, it’s best to book when you’re around 28–35 weeks pregnant. For newborns, please contact me with your due date - I’ll pencil in availability around that time and confirm once your baby arrives. For all other sessions (including family and milestone shoots), book as early as possible, especially for weekends or busy seasons like summer and Christmas.

How long does a family photoshoot last?

Most sessions last 1–2 hours, giving plenty of time for natural moments and breaks if needed. Newborn sessions may be a bit longer to allow time for feeds and cuddles.

What if it rains on the day of our outdoor family photoshoot?

No problem! We can reschedule free of charge, or switch to an at-home session if you prefer. London weather is unpredictable, so I’m flexible to make sure you get the best experience.

How and when will I receive my photos?

You’ll receive a private, downloadable online gallery within 7–14 days of your session. I always try to send a sneak peek sooner! You can download your favourites, share with family, and choose images for prints or albums.

How many photos will we get, and can we buy extra images?

The number of images depends on the package you choose. All collections include a set number of fully edited digital images, and you’re welcome to purchase extra images (£20 per additional photo).

Do you offer prints and albums?

Yes! I offer beautiful, professionally printed albums and fine art prints - perfect keepsakes for your family. Albums are fully customisable, with your choice of images, cover, and layout. Prints are produced by a professional lab and delivered to your home.

How do you deliver prints and albums?

Prints and albums are delivered via Royal Mail (postage included in your package price). Prints usually arrive within 2 weeks, and albums within 2–4 weeks of ordering.

Do you use contracts?

All bookings are subject to my Terms & Conditions, which you’ll receive when booking. If you have any questions about them, just ask.

Will my photos be used on your website or social media?

I love sharing highlights from each session (with your permission). If you’d prefer to keep your images private, just let me know at any time.

What areas do you cover for family photoshoots?

I’m based in Croydon and cover all of London, plus Surrey, Kent, and Sussex. Locations outside m25 may incur a small travel fee - please ask for details.

Can you recommend outdoor family photoshoot locations near me?

Yes! I’ve scouted some beautiful, quiet spots around London that work brilliantly for relaxed, playful outdoor sessions. Think woodlands, meadows, nature trails, or hidden corners of local parks - places where your children can run free and be themselves. Once your session is booked, we’ll chat about what vibe you’re after (romantic, rustic, wild, urban) and I’ll help you choose the perfect location that fits your family.

Do you photograph large families or extended family groups?

Yes! I’m happy to photograph extended family sessions, including grandparents, cousins, and larger groups. Get in touch to discuss your needs.

Can I include my pet in the photoshoot?

Absolutely—pets are part of the family too! Whether it’s a cat lounging on the bed or a bouncy dog joining the adventure, they’re welcome to be in the photos. I’ll guide you on how to include them in a way that feels natural and safe for everyone (including the little ones).

Do you offer gift vouchers?

I do! A family or newborn photoshoot makes such a thoughtful gift—perfect for baby showers, birthdays or first Christmases. Vouchers are beautifully presented and can be customised for any session type or value. Just get in touch and I’ll help you sort the perfect gift for someone special.

What are your prices?
