What to Expect When You’re Booking a London Photoshoot from Abroad

For families on holiday, parents-to-be on a babymoon, or anyone making memories in the city

So, you’re coming to London — maybe for a holiday, maybe to visit family, or maybe as one last babymoon before life gets a little fuller (and a lot more joyful!). And you're thinking… “We should have some photos taken while we’re there!”

Whether you're picturing a family stroll past Big Ben, cuddles with your toddler on a park bench, or dreamy maternity portraits with Buckingham Palace in the background — you absolutely can make it happen. And you don’t need to be a local to pull it off beautifully.

I’m a London-based photographer working with families and couples from all over the world — including the US, Europe, and Australia — who want something a little more meaningful than phone selfies on their trip. This blog will walk you through exactly what to expect (no matter the season), and help you feel confident booking your photoshoot from abroad.

So, How Does It All Work?

1. Get in touch
Fill out the contact form with your travel dates, who’s joining the session, and what kind of shoot you’re after (family, maternity, or a bit of both!). Whether you're just starting to plan or already have a London itinerary mapped out, it’s never too early to reach out.

2. We pick the perfect spot
From classic London (Big Ben, red buses, Tower Bridge) to charming parks, historic streets, or cosy winter scenes with twinkly lights — I’ll suggest the best locations to match your vibe and time of year. Visiting in December? Let’s go festive — Christmas markets, lights, and hot chocolates in hand.

3. Your session fee confirms the booking
Once we’ve settled on a date and time, the session fee (£200) secures your slot in my calendar — then we can dive into planning the fun stuff like outfits, ideal timing, and choosing locations.

4. You travel, I prep
While you're hopping on a plane or catching up with family in the UK, I’ll be preparing your session details — checking light conditions, planning our route, and making sure everything runs smoothly.

A Few Handy Things to Know

Jet lag? Not a problem — sometimes it's perfect.
Early morning light is stunning in London, and it’s also when the streets are quietest — no crowds in your photos, and calmer energy for little ones. Many of my visiting families find that their kids are naturally awake early for the first few days, which works in our favour!

Sessions last up to 2 hours
This gives us plenty of time to explore more than one location — for example, we can start in Westminster with the London Eye and Big Ben, then walk along the river or head into a nearby park. With kids, we keep it flexible and playful. With maternity shoots, we move at a gentle pace and can include moments with your partner too.

Want to include the grandparents or cousins? Go for it.
If you’re visiting extended family in the UK and want to include them in your session — we absolutely can. These photos often turn out to be the most treasured ones of all.

You’ll get a sneak peek within 48 hours
I know how exciting it is to relive the moment. You’ll receive a few edited preview images within two days of your session to enjoy (and share!) while you’re still in the London buzz.

Final gallery + print options
Your full gallery will be delivered within two weeks. You can then choose a collection — digital images only, or with prints and/or a beautiful album. If you’re not local, don’t worry — I ship prints and albums internationally, so your memories will find their way home to you, wherever that may be.

Common Questions (and Reassuring Answers)

Do we have to know the city?
Nope! Most of my clients don’t. I’ll help you choose a location (with example galleries so you can get a feel for each option), advise on travel logistics from your accommodation, and recommend spots that are stroller-friendly or toddler-approved.

What do we wear?
You’ll get a full prep guide once you book, with outfit ideas for everyone — whether you’ve packed light or brought the full Pinterest mood board. For maternity sessions, something comfy and flowy is always a win. For families, think neutral tones with soft textures and layers. No need to match perfectly — just coordinate and keep it simple.

What if the weather is unpredictable?
It’s London — so that’s fair! I keep room in my schedule to move things around if needed. A little drizzle doesn’t scare me (or the kids, usually!), and overcast skies actually give us dreamy light. If you’re only here a few days, we’ll have a plan B up our sleeve.

Where can I find your pricing?
You’ll find all the details on the pricing page — it breaks down the session fee, the collections you can choose from once you’ve seen your gallery, and what’s included in each. If you’re not sure which one’s right for you, I’m happy to help based on what you’re hoping to get from your session.

A Few Session Ideas to Inspire You

Babymoon by Big Ben: Romantic, glowing maternity portraits with a mix of architecture and florals (if you're lucky with the season).

Family fun around the London Eye: Playing on the grass, peeking through bubbles, giggling while riding on Dad’s shoulders — and the iconic skyline in the background.

Cosy Christmas shoot: Lights twinkling, coats bundled, little ones sipping hot chocolate or dancing through a festive market. Magical doesn’t even begin to cover it.

In a Nutshell…

You don’t have to know London.
You don’t have to have everything planned perfectly.
You just need to show up, be yourselves, and let me take care of the rest.

From sneak peeks to lasting prints, we’ll turn your time in London into images you’ll want to frame forever.
