Maternity Photoshoot in Greenwich Park: Natural, Joyful Moments to Celebrate Your Bump

Thinking about booking a maternity photoshoot in London? Let me take you behind the scenes of a recent session in beautiful Greenwich Park, one of my favourite locations for relaxed, meaningful maternity photography. Whether you're looking for something serene and scenic or filled with family laughter and toddler cuddles, this park is a dreamy backdrop all year round.

Family walking together beneath blooming magnolias

This particular session took place on a spring evening, when the magnolia trees were in full bloom and golden sunlight filtered through the trees. Mum wore a gorgeous patterned dress that caught the light beautifully and moved effortlessly with her bump - proof that you don’t need anything fancy to look absolutely stunning in your maternity photos.

Why Greenwich Park Is Perfect for Maternity Photography

As a London maternity photographer, I’m always looking for locations that offer variety, comfort, and that little bit of magic - and Greenwich Park ticks all the boxes:

  • Seasonal beauty – Whether it’s cherry blossoms in spring, lush greenery in summer, or golden leaves in autumn, there’s always something in bloom.

  • Iconic London views – There are lovely open spaces, wooded areas, and even skyline views if you'd like to include a little cityscape in your photos.

  • Family-friendly – With wide paths and space to roam, it’s ideal if you’re bringing along a partner or older child.

When’s the Best Time to Book a Maternity Photoshoot?

The sweet spot for maternity photos is usually between 28 and 34 weeks. At this stage, your bump is beautifully rounded and pronounced, but you’re often still feeling fairly comfortable and mobile. Every pregnancy is different though, so if you're feeling good earlier or want to wait a bit longer, we’ll work with your timing.

I always recommend booking a few weeks ahead of time - especially if you’re hoping for a spring or autumn session when dates fill up quickly.

What to Wear for a Maternity Shoot

You don’t need to stress about what to wear—we’ll talk through it together! For Greenwich Park, I often recommend:

  • Floaty dresses that show off the bump and catch the light (like the one this lovely mum wore).

  • Earthy, soft, or nature-inspired tones to complement the setting.

  • Comfortable shoes - we’ll likely walk a little between spots, but nothing too far.

If you'd like, I can also share a style guide or help you pull together outfits for partners and little ones, so everyone looks coordinated without being matchy-matchy.

“But What If I’m Not Feeling My Best?”

This comes up a lot, and it’s so understandable. Pregnancy can be a rollercoaster - emotionally and physically. You might not feel like your most glamorous self, especially if you’re tired or your body feels unfamiliar right now.

Here’s the truth: maternity sessions aren’t about looking “perfect.” They’re about capturing this beautiful chapter in your story. The way your partner looks at you. The way your toddler snuggles your bump. The light in your eyes when you think about meeting your baby.

My job is to make you feel relaxed and confident, and to gently guide you into poses that flatter and feel natural - no awkward posing or forced smiles. I promise you, you’ll be glad you documented this season.

Including Your Partner and Children

Some of the most moving moments during this session came from the family connection. Their son gently kissed his mum’s bump, was thrown joyfully in the air by dad, and laughed as he ran through the paths beneath the magnolias. These are the moments you’ll treasure years from now.

We’ll always take a mix of portraits and candid moments, and I’ll work at your family’s pace - especially if you have a lively toddler in tow.
